Bridge of Hearts

The mission of Bridge of Hearts is to engage the community to celebrate, care for and love our youngest and most vulnerable citizens.  We are a completely volunteer run organization with over 500 volunteers. Our model  is to serve impoverished and homeless children  by 1)Helping them celebrate their birthday, a special day for any child.  We provide a bag filled with 3 wrapped gifts, 2 new age-appropriate and high interest books, a cake mix, frosting, family celebration kit and hand made card 2)the new books  grow their literacy and help children learn to enjoy reading by building their personal libraries, and 3), by providing these children with access to a full assortment and full-size hygiene items and healthy snacks which previously were not routinely and consistently available. All birthday bags have a bag of hygiene items and a snack bag also included. 

Bridge of Hearts establishes and maintains a delivery system directly to 50 partner schools .  We currently serve the public schools in Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson along with all the Iredell County schools representing 1,200 children. School counselors are an integral part of all planning and a valuable partnership has been established instrumental to our programs' success.
