What We Do

Camp LUCK is the only camp in the Carolinas for children exclusively with heart disease, and it’s free of charge to all participants. Camp LUCK is a camp that offers an array of support services throughout the year for children with heart disease and their families. Camp LUCK Kids Camp is a week-long medically supervised resident camp for kids with heart disease and one sibling. It is located at Camp Cherokee, on 7,000 beautiful acres at Kings Mountain State Park in South Carolina. Camp LUCK’s goal at Kids Camp is to provide a positive experience that helps everyone reach their potential by building self-esteem, friendships, and character in a safe environment. Camp LUCK strives to have its “heart kids” be “regular kids” for a week and participate in awesome activities they might not typically participate in. These campers enjoy a wide variety of traditional and adventure programs such as swimming, hiking, athletics, canoeing, archery, dancing, rock climbing, and more. Camp LUCK helps campers appreciate all people’s diversity and become a part of a global community. Cabin life also plays a vital role in teaching campers to be self-reliant, cooperate with others and learn to make decisions while away from home. Without a doubt, Camp LUCK provides one of the most dynamic and life-changing weeks for these children. Family Camp is a weekend overnight camp for kids with heart disease and their families. Family Camp includes almost all of the activities of Kids Camp but is for the entire family. Like Camp LUCK Kids Camp, the goal of Camp LUCK Family Camp is to provide a positive experience that helps everyone reach their potential by building self-esteem, friendships, and character in a safe environment. Camp LUCK Cares Camp LUCK Cares refers to the array of support programs and services provided by Camp LUCK throughout the year to children with heart disease and their families in the Charlotte area. These programs aim to continue and extend the values and benefits of camp throughout the year, outside the physical confines of the traditional camp setting. Camp LUCK believes that camp is not just a place but an attitude and strives to create a positive, enriching atmosphere of camp in everything Camp LUCK offers.
