What We Do

Carolina Farm Trust is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting local farms with funds, land, and sustainable energy to compete with corporate farming. Our mission is to overcome the rapidly growing challenge of affordable food access throughout the Carolinas.

There is a place for everyone at the local food table. We seek to partner with retail consumers, suppliers, academia, farmers, value-added business, restaurants and wholesale companies.

As the demand for locally produced food continues to rise, as our populations increase, and as our cities grow, we need to ensure that food will continue to be produced locally. Carolina Farm Trust works tirelessly to make production simple and profitable so we can foster an ecosystem of sustainable farming.

We are in the process of creating two urban farms in the Charlotte area. The Urban Farm at Aldersgate is currently underway and will serve the East Charlotte community with nutritious produce, health education, and events. Our other urban farm (not yet named) in Fairview, a Charlotte suburb, is coming to life from the collaboration of Nebedaye Farms, Serendipity Flowers, and Crown Town Compost. Together, these organizations will be growing fresh produce and flowers, with the help of Charlotte residents' compost, for its community.

Carolina Farm Trust’s mission is to support our local food system and that means making sure you can get food from your local farmers. COVID-19 changes things daily, we have a delicate food system, we need a strong system to keep food moving from farmers to your table. Carolina Farm Trusts COVID-19 Farm and Food Rescue Plan will create a strong system. Here is what this plan will do:

-Support existing on the ground efforts.
-Meet farmers short term needs.
-Commit to immediately increasing production
-Bring cash flow to restaurants, caterers and food trucks.
-Keep distribution as safe as possible to

We are asking for your help in supporting our local food system. Make a donation today to the Charlotte Region COVID-19 Farm and Food Rescue Plan. Every dollar helps. Donate today and our donation manager will wave the processing fee.
