What We Do

For over 40 years, the Charlotte Film Society has brought independent and foreign films to Charlotte. In June 2022, the Film Society opened the Independent Picture House, Charlotte's only nonprofit community cinema dedicated to screening independent, arthouse, and foreign films. The community cinema is also the home of the annual Charlotte Film Festival, which the organization acquired in 2020.

Interesting Info
  • The Charlotte Film Society owns and operates the Independent Picture House, committed to educating, engaging, and enabling individuals through the power of film
  • The Independent Picture House (IPH) provides all community members the opportunity to rent the cinema’s auditoriums and spaces for public and private rentals.
  • IPH hosts monthly meet-ups known as the Carolina Independent Film Collective for filmmakers and film industry professionals on the second Tuesday of each month.
