What We Do

The mission of the Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center is to provide access to superior speech-language and hearing services that empower and transform lives.  We work to ensure that everyone in need, regardless of income or other barriers, has access to the speech-language and hearing services they need to build their own pathways to success and to obtain a meaningful and enriched life.

This #GivingTuesdayCLT, Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center’s goal is to raise $10,000 to fund supplies needed for our Hear to Help program, which provides brand new hearing aids to neighbors in need on a sliding fee scale based on their income level. These funds will allow us to purchase tools, like the NOAH Link Bluetooth programming device, which is used to program every patient’s hearing aids to their specific level of hearing loss, and to better serve the 600+ individuals we see annually.

  • A $5 donation can provide much-needed filters for hearing aids, which need to be replaced monthly
  • A $10 donation can provide hearing aid domes for patients in need, which need to be replaced monthly
  • A $40 donation covers the cost of an office visit for routine care of hearing aids
  • A $100 donation provides one hearing evaluation for a child or senior in need
  • A $150 donation can provide rolling stools for the Baxter Center for Hearing Technology, which are needed by our Audiology Team
  • A $250 donation can allow us to purchase one NOAH Link Wireless 2 Bluetooth programming device, which is needed to program every patient’s hearing aids to their specific level of hearing loss. We are in need of 4 of these devices.
Interesting Info
  • More than 40 million Americans are affected by communication disorders and CSHC has been serving these individuals in the Charlotte community since 1967.
  • CSHC's Hear to Help program is the only program of its kind, providing state-of-the art hearing aids to those who require them, regardless of income.
  • Our speech team works closely with child care facilities to screen hundreds of preschoolers each year to identify children who are in need of speech therapy.
