What We Do
The CMS Foundation is the official nonprofit partner for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), raising money to support the district’s highest strategic priorities. Harnessing the power of private investments in education, we seed innovative ideas and help expand programs to accelerate system-wide transformation.
We play a unique role in our community, serving as a trusted bridge that connects donors to the district’s most critical work. In this position, we help ensure investments in our school system have a meaningful, sustainable impact on our students and educators.
IMPACT OF COVID-19 - SPECIFIC NEEDS:
The CMS Foundation launched the CMS COVID-19 Relief Fund to help meet the needs of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ students and families while schools are closed due the coronavirus. The primary focus of the fund is to equip students with the resources they need to access learning virtually and stay connected with their teachers during school closures.
Through contributions to the COVID-19 Relief Fund, the foundation is able to provide mobile hotspots and prepaid internet service to students without home internet connectivity.
How You Can Help:
The CMS Foundation is continuing fundraising efforts to secure more devices. For a variety of reasons, it is more helpful and strongly preferred that CMS enter the large service contract instead of various groups working to get devices. The cost for the device with 12 months of service plus administrative fees totals $260.
