What We Do
ETM creates educational villages for at-risk students and parents with teachers and other resources. Beginning in 2019 ETM developed collaborations with Charlotte Mecklenburg School (CMS), Title I Programs, and Communities in Schools (CIS). Our programs have included mentoring and coaching with 5th-grade boys and parents at Bruns Elementary School. ETM has developed and implemented programs face-to-face and virtually. Each year we have recruited volunteers, but are unable to meet our goal of 1 adult volunteer per student. During 2020-2021 our volunteers from Johnson C. Smith University developed a creative and interactive virtual experience to enhance student and parents engagement. ETM is currently working with CIS coordinator Karen Neal from Bruns Elementary, to finalize the programs for the 2021-2022 school year. We are seeking volunteers to be trained for parent support. The number of volunteers will be determined by Bruns's school decisions. All services will be free to parents, based on CIS criteria.
