What We Do

Girl Scouts is the world's preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adults, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives: strong values, social conscience and conviction of their own self-worth. Girl Scouts, Hornets’ Nest Council serves 17,000 girls in 8 counties in North and South Carolina (Anson, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Montgomery, Rowan, Stanly, Union and York,SC). The Charlotte chapter was founded in 1935.

Interesting Info

In 2017, we have supported 16,000 girls and adults in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, York, Stanly, Montgomery, Rowan and Anson County.
Girl Scouts produces leaders including 20+ NASA career astronauts, 75% of women in the US Senate, and CEO's of Fortune 500 companies such as YouTube and IBM.
We aim to serve every girl in our footprint through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, regardless of financial position.
