What We Do

Greenhouse is harnessing the power of a diverse, committed
community to create sustainable, generational change in the most
challenged communities across our country, using education as the
great leveler and gateway to opportunity. We begin working with
individuals as they’re finishing their senior year of high school and
continue working together to create change for the rest of their lives.
We do this by providing holistic support of low-income, high-performing young
role models and their endeavors, and by rallying and focusing our community to launch hundreds of change initiatives.

Greenhouse is the community transforming communities.

Over 20 years, we’ve cultivated a community of young leaders, donors, volunteers, hugely accomplished professionals, alums in our program, and exceptional staf to empower people of all backgrounds to live a life of their choosing. We started with, and continue to work from, a core belief that education is the great leveler and gateway to opportunity.

Our Community Change Model encompasses three program phases:
• WHOLE PERSON COLLEGE PROGRAM: Serving high-performing, under-resourced college students with a holistic
approach to their success.
• YOUNG LEADERS PROGRAM: Working with our alumni in the early stages of their career and post-college life to both support their endeavors and work together on community change.
• WHOLE COMMUNITY PROGRAM: At this last stage of our model we are scaling our impact in communities by running thousands of “experiments,” repeating the ones that are working while also investing deeply in geographic communities to assure they are changed forever.

Interesting Info
  • Starting salaries of our alums are 2x greater than their parents' and 22% higher than their peers.
  • Of low-income students that attend college, only 15% graduate. Our Scholars graduate at a rate of 98%.
  • We have started over 400 for-profit and non-profit businesses and community change initiatives.
