Hope Vibes fulfills its mission by providing hygiene products, free laundry days, mobile shower/laundry vehicles (in progress) and hope filled conversation to our homeless neighbors and others experiencing extreme poverty. Hope Vibes also facilitates educational school chats in public and private K-12 classrooms within the region, giving students an opportunity to learn about homelessness and be a part of a solution by coordinating school donation drives. Hope Vibes also serves as a bridge between other organizations to build partnerships. IMPACT OF COVID-19 - SPECIFIC NEEDS: In the first few weeks of learning about the virus beginning to surface in the U.S., we immediately thought about what it all meant for our homeless neighbors. When we speak of stay at home ordinances, social distancing and practicing proper hygiene... this vulnerable population was at an automatic disadvantage. They don't have a house to quarantine in and have very limited access to frequently wash their hands, if they have access at all. So we took the time to step back and deeply consider how we could support people who are living on the streets. The end result.... portable sinks! If we are to flatten the curve for the homeless community, they must be able to wash their hands. Financial: Our goal is to build 15 portable sinks to be set up in Charlotte's local tent camp communities. We currently have funding for the first four. - We really believe that it takes a community to reach and help another community, so give involved.
