La Escuelita Bilingual Preschool

La Escuelita Bilingual Preschool provides native Spanish-speaking preschool children in the Lake Norman area a solid foundation for kindergarten and elementary school by teaching them basic classroom language and social skills, exposing them to arts, science, and sports, and instilling in them a love for learning in a safe, loving bilingual classroom environment. Student tuition is intentionally set very low to provide access to preschool education to families which do not have an affordable alternative. The school is supported by sponsors and donors. The English Language Learner students (ELL students) and their families face unique language and cultural challenges as they enter traditional North Carolina public schools. La Escuelita Bilingual Preschool’s mission is to help overcome these long-term challenges to academic success for native Spanish speaking children through an early childhood development program designed for their needs beginning in the pre-school years. La Escuelita also offers monthly workshops and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to parents. A take home library provides books for families to read at home to instill an awareness of the importance of ongoing education in their families.
