What We Do

Our mission is to promote mental wellness through advocacy, prevention and education in Mecklenburg and Cabarrus Counties. We advocate for access to mental health services and policy change, leading to social change. The MHA works to reduce the stigma of mental health issues, through community education and outreach. We provide information and referrals to local mental health providers.

The MHA also provides programs including: Compeer, a volunteer friendship match for adults with chronic mental illnesses; ParentVOICE, support and empowerment for families of youth with mental health challenges; and free evidence based educational opportunities such as Mental Health First Aid and QPR suicide prevention training.
