What We Do

The mission of the Muggsy Bogues Family Foundation (MBFF) is to empower underserved youth and families to improve their quality of life through food security, access to education, and workforce development. We're all about helping others and there are so many families in our community in need of a lift up.... the MBFF is here to help. Labor of Love is our food distribution program. We work with Food Lion as our exclusive grocer partner. Currently, there are four events held throughout the year: Spring Labor of Love, Back-to-School Labor of Love, Thanksgiving Labor of Love, and Holiday Labor of Love. The MBFF partners with local non-profits, such as Freedom Communities, The Harvest Center of Charlotte, Pineville Neighbors Place, Mecklenburg County, RunningWorks, Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont, Mental Health America of Central Carolinas, Families Forward Charlotte, and more to fill identified gaps in service and reach the most vulnerable residents of the community. We address workforce development by connecting food recipients with job training and employment opportunities. The MBFF also partners with the Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) Foundation to administer scholarships to income-eligible students enrolled in skilled trade programs at CPCC. This is done through the Muggsy Bogues Family Scholarship Fund and the Workforce Development Scholarship Program. “Significant change begins in our individual communities and during these unprecedented times, it has never been more critical to lend a helping hand,” Muggsy Bogues, President of the Muggsy Bogues Family Foundation, states.
