What We Do

Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center coordinates the investigation and treatment of the most serious cases of child abuse in Mecklenburg County.

Pat’s Place provides a physical location where a child’s well-being is our first priority, reducing the re-victimization of children, removing barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhancing criminal prosecution through a multidisciplinary approach to child abuse cases. This year, nearly 600 children will visit Pat’s Place to receive forensic interviews, medical exams, counseling, and advocacy support. Additionally, Pat’s Place stands as a leader in child sexual abuse prevention training. Over the last three years, more than 4,000 individuals and youth serving professionals have received training in how to recognize, respond to, and even prevent child sexual abuse.

Interesting Info

Since opening in 2005, Pat's Place has served over 5,000 sexually abused children in Mecklenburg County.
In 2015, Pat's Place served 536 children. 48% of the children served were between 7 and 12 years old.
Pat's Place does not charge our children or their families a fee to use our services; but relies on our community for support.
