What We Do

Formed in 2011 and officially founded in 2016, Power is Giving Inc is a BIPOC-led 501c3 organization on a mission to promote wellbeing and mitigate systemic barriers to equity through the provision of culturally resonant, 100% whole food, plant-based (WFPB) lifestyle education and resources, as a WFPB diet and lifestyle, centered on nutrient-rich, minimally processed plant foods, has been shown to prevent, arrest, and even reverse our top chronic diseases.

As BIPOC populations face disproportionate rates of death and disability from our top lifestyle-driven preventable and arrestable chronic diseases, we focus on mitigation of risk factors and access to optimal wellness practices through our year-round  education and advocacy programs.

OUR MISSION

Providing access to 100% whole food, plant-based (WFPB) nutrition education through culturally resonant programs and advocacy that aid in the prevention, arrest and reversal of lifestyle-driven chronic disease while dismantling systemic barriers to optimal wellness equity.

VISION STATEMENT

Thriving, equitable communities where BIPOC families experience optimal health, enduring intergenerational wellness and equitable access to knowledge, resources and opportunities.

OUR CORE VALUES

  1. Optimal Nutrition & Wellness Equity -We champion affordable, whole food, plant-based (WFPB) nutrition as a fundamental human right and access to financial equity solutions; prioritizing communities facing the greatest barriers to equity.
  2. Evidence-Based Impact - We leverage scientific research and cultural competencies to deliver programs that effectively prevent, arrest, and reverse chronic diseases as well as  offer financial resources and opportunities to underserved populations.
  3. Youth Wellness & Mentorship- We combat childhood obesity through culturally resonant WFPB tennis, fitness, nutrition education, and mentorship to build lifelong healthy habits.
  4. Community Empowerment - We create environments that sustain optimal wellness equity through collaborative partnerships, education, and  evidence-driven, peer reviewed, WFPB lifestyle resources in disproportionately impacted communities.
