What We Do

Purple Heart Homes assists Service-Connected Disabled Veterans with the necessary steps to purchase a home or renovate their current home so they can live with the dignity and independence they deserve. We can improve veterans' lives one home at a time.

In Mecklenburg County, we have built ramps, widened doorways, and built suitable bathroom additions for the Veterans Aging in Place program. Our second program is the Veterans Home Ownership Program to adapt and modify foreclosed or donated homes that are adapted specifically for the veteran's disability. This is a "hand up" program, not a "hand out" one. The veteran is often inspired to pay it forward and volunteer to help others. The results? Emerging leaders who pay it forward to our communities.

IMPACT OF COVID-19 - SPECIFIC NEEDS:

How We Are Impacted:
Given the state of current events with respect to COVID-19 a.k.a. Coronavirus, Purple Heart Homes would like to ask for help from the community to assure the efforts of our organization with the following.

How You Can Help:
1. We invite members of the community to write letters to Veterans thanking them for their service and their sacrifice for our safety and preservation of our country and its freedom. You may send them to the Purple Heart Homes headquarters by addressing them to:

755 WASHINGTON AVE
STATESVILLE, NC 28677

From there we can distribute them to Veterans that we have been in contact with.

2. To help ensure that we can continue working for Service-Connected Disabled and Aging Veterans during this health scare, we recommend purchasing our book, "Wounded Homecoming: The Uphill Journey of Wounded Veterans from Battlefield to Homefront", through AmazonSmile. Not only will the proceeds of the purchase go towards Purple Heart Homes, but going through AmazonSmile will ensure that the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate an additional 0.5% of the purchase price to our organization.

3. We'd like to help you start your day as best as possible, especially if you're unable to travel, with our very own coffee! Feel free to order yourself a bag of our "Frontline Mo'Joe" WHOLE BEAN Coffee from our eStore.
