Renaissance West Community Initiative (RWCI) is a nonprofit whose mission is to promote a collaborative community centered on quality housing, education, health and wellness, and opportunity. Our vision is to end intergenerational poverty through a holistic community revitalization effort.
The ultimate goal of RWCI is to drive economic revitalization along West Boulevard. To achieve this, RWCI will: 1) create and implement a high-quality, cradle-to-career educational continuum, including a child development center and a Pre-K through 8th grade school; 2) ensure that children and families have access to comprehensive wraparound services that address their unique needs, including health care, mental wellness, job training, parenting support, education, and social services; and 3) support the development of mixed-income housing within the targeted geographic area.
Guided by the vision and needs of local residents, RWCI provides consistent, community-driven support across all aspects of life, helping to create lasting opportunities for families in our neighborhood.
- RWCI currently supports approximately 1,300 residents and over 700 students at Renaissance West STEAM Academy and the Howard Levine Child Development Center.
- Renaissance West STEAM Academy, which had been rated an "F" school since its opening in 2017, has made significant progress, moving up to a "C" rating.
- Our team of Life Navigators partners closely with residents, guiding them on their unique journeys and helping them set—and achieve—their personal goals.
