What We Do

The Shepherd’s Center of Charlotte (SCC) is a nonprofit interfaith organization that originated in 1978 in response to a need to redefine and restructure how aging is approached. We connect learning programs and services to support and enrich the lives of older adults along with offering our participants rewarding way to connect to the community and thrive in any setting.  Located in and serving members of Mecklenburg County, Shepherd's Charlotte offers a variety of programs and services, ranging from social activities to transportation to Medicare consulting. Volunteers are integral to our organization; they drive seniors to their medical appointments, counsel seniors on their Medicare options and drug plan choices, assist with tax filings each February - April, and teach classes on a variety of topics. How you can help: Volunteer your time and talent to one of our programs or service! * Drivers are needed for essential medical appointments, pharmacies, grocery shopping. * Class Instructor for our Adventures in Learning Program * Board Member or Committee Member * Become a certified Senior Health Insurance Information Program counselor * Handy Helper.
