What We Do

The Shepherd’s Center of Charlotte is an organization of volunteers that connects learning programs and services to support and enrich lives of older adults. This is done through programs such as Adventures in Learning which is held each quarter for six consecutive Mondays where seniors enjoy fellowship and classes to help keep their minds and bodies active. Other programs include Computer classes and a Travel Adventures program that schedules day trips to various venues throughout the southeast. Volunteers are an important element of the organization and devote their time to driving seniors to their medical appointments, helping to counsel seniors on their Medicare options, helping with their taxes each February - April and serving on the board of directors and committees.

Interesting Info

Adventures in Learning provides educational opportunities to over 700 seniors annually. Almost 75 seniors participate as volunteer teachers.
In 2015, the computer program served nearly 200 older adult students, teaching them how to use a computer, how to e-mail, use the Internet and more.
Twenty-five volunteer drivers made nearly 450 trips with seniors to their medical appointments in 2015.
