What We Do
At Soccer F.C. we believe in the power of sport, and believe every child should be able to play soccer and have the opportunity to be a part of a team. Did you know that 48,247 children in Charlotte live at or below the poverty line? That means that 48,247 children in our community will struggle to play in any youth sports programs. That is not okay with us. To face this problem head-on, we launched our foundation, the Soccer Foundation of Charlotte. Through Soccer F.C. we provide completely free after-school soccer programming to underserved communities. Our primary mission is to fight to give these 48,247 children an opportunity to be part of a team, to wear their very own jersey, and to have a coach/mentor they can call their own. As we leverage soccer for social change we are adding a literacy component to our curriculum. This spring, students will participate in soccer programming with an emphasis on literacy. Although not the most common pairing, we believe soccer is the ultimate hook, and want to use the game to encourage reading. If you are interested in learning more please contact Katie Phillips at katie@soccerfc.org. Soccer F.C. provides access, excellence, and education through the game of soccer to children in underserved communities. ACCESS to soccer. EXCELLENCE in programming. EDUCATION beyond the game.
