Take The Trip Foundation

We inspire hope through travel and/or special experiences to families impacted by a terminal illness. One of the most common regrets a terminally ill patient usually has at the end of their life is that they "wish they would have traveled more". We're here to help eliminate that regret and inspire them and others to live their lives as if they didn't have an expiration date. We are huge advocates for allowing children and caregivers the opportunity to enjoy all of the special moments and capture all of the memories they possibly can while their loved ones are still alive. When a patient is terminally ill, they are always dreading the news that they have less than 6 months to live when they visit their attending physician's office for checkups or scan results.

Our co-founder, Cissy Carroll had a passion for travel and always saying yes to any exciting new experience that was presented to her. When she and her family were leaving one vacation, she was planning another one 6 months out. It gave her purpose and fuel to keep defying the odds and proving her physicians and all of the statistics wrong. Her motto during her 8-year battle with Stage IV Lung Cancer (a diagnosis at the time that had less than a 1% 5-year survival rate) was "Take The Trip, Eat The Cake, Buy The Shoes" and she lived out every bit of that motto. She left this world with no regrets. Her husband and 8-year old son are determined to inspire the same zest for life and determination to live like they witnessed from one of the strongest and most spirited women to ever walk this world. Cissy may have left this world, but she continues to inspire others to live #CissyStrong through Take The Trip Foundation.
