Three Bone Theatre Inc.

At Three Bone Theatre, we use theatre as a catalyst for conversation and change in our community.

Our name is inspired by Reba McEntire's quote —“To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone, and a funny bone.” Founded by two visionary young women who pooled $300, our journey from grassroots beginnings has propelled us into a decade of award-winning excellence in North Carolina.

We are known for our strong track record of fiscal responsibility, ambitious artistic excellence, a steadfast commitment to equity, both on and off the stage, and meaningful community partnerships. We produce the best of adult contemporary theatre, bringing almost exclusively regional premieres to Charlotte.

Through our unique Community Partnership program, we provide a direct call to action to our audience members; saying “get involved, locally!” We welcomed our first full-time staff member in 2021, and are in a thrilling new phase of growth, bringing on our second full-time employee in January 2025.
