What We Do
Thrive Global Project provides vulnerable students around the globe with educational resources to empower them in the classroom. We believe that to break the cycle of poverty we must provide quality education. We believe that a resource is anything that helps a child thrive in the classroom.
Giving Tuesday Charlotte Specific NEED:
Giving Tuesday is happening on December 1st!
This Giving Tuesday, will you help Thrive Global Project give a $500 scholarship and a series of expert-led workshops to 23 college students so that they can have access to basic vital needs?
Our goal is to provide 23 Charlotte College Students with a $500 relief package to help them afford vital, basic needs due to COVID-19.
By providing 23 low-income, first-generation students with this relief package, we will be able to increase economic mobility, social capital and racial equity. We'll use a 2 generation approach to reduce hardship on families so students can focus on school.
Without funding, students may not have access to vital, basic needs, decreasing their capacity to graduate, impacting long term earning potential.
Did you know that the state of North Carolina has some of the worst numbers on student debt? Student loan debt in North Carolina has grown by 285%, leading to poor economic outcomes.
To make matters worse, impoverished students with less access to resources are 13x less likely to graduate on time!
However, research has shown that by providing students with a $500 scholarship, they are about 5x more likely to graduate from college than without!
Will you help us UNZIP the POTENTIAL and provide ONE student with a $500 scholarship TODAY?
IMPACT OF COVID-19 - SPECIFIC NEEDS:
Thrive Global Project needs financial donations during this time to provide disadvantaged students with critical resources to empower their learning development during COVID-19.
What’s Needed: Generous donations made to Thrive Global Project that will provide funding to provide students in Charlotte Mecklenburg with critical educational resources to empower students to engage in their at-home and in classroom learning.
Why It’s Urgent: Due to COVID-19, the growth of poverty in our community is expanding rapidly and the ability for caregivers to provide resources for students is limited. Before COVID-19, there were already tremendous educational inequities. Now, more than ever, these resources have become even more critical to providing stability for Mecklenburg’s youth.
Did you know that Impoverished students with less access to school resources are 13x less likely to graduate on time? By investing in resources, we provide tools for success.
In Charlotte Mecklenburg alone, there are over 35,000 Elementary Students living in low economic status households that may not have access to critical resources that will aid in their learning development over the coming months due to COVID-19. Low economic status elementary school students in CMS need resources to successfully study-at-home. These resources can continue to be used during the summer and when classroom learning resumes.
Sufficient resources can be the difference in classroom success, engagement, completing assignments, and even the difference in future high school graduation rates leading to better economic outcomes.
Thrive Global Project has a resource order on standby waiting to be deployed. All we need is YOU.
