What We Do
West Side CLT is an emerging nonprofit pioneering the land trust model in Charlotte. Our mission is to create permanently affordable housing with community-centered development in west Charlotte and beyond. These efforts will create staying power for residents facing displacement due to gentrification which predominately affects historically black communities. We are a black, resident-led organization that applies a racial equity lens in our approach to affordable housing and preserving land and space for community development (not solely limited to residential development). Our immediate goal is to acquire, develop and sell 50 permanently affordable homes by 2023.
Interesting Info
  • In partnership with UNCC School of Architecture and AIA, we built the People's Porch to serve as a community gather space in Enderly Park.
  • A Charlotte family donated their house which we moved to Enderly Park in 2019; 2 other donations are in the pipeline.
  • We are working with the city and Gantt museum to save from demolition 2 shot-gun houses Charlotte's only remaining examples of this iconic architectural style.
