Over 40% of the students we serve identify as Hispanic and many only speak Spanish at home. Student's classroom and school library books are often only in English, which makes supporting at-home reading difficult (or impossible) for non-English speaking caregivers. The Bilingual Book Build Project takes donated books in English and utilizes native speaking volunteers (or technology) to transform them into dual-language books for at-home reading. Having access to bilingual books encourages parent involvement in a child's education and parental involvement increases the chances for academic success!
