🥬About Farm Volunteering🥬
At The Bulb, nutrient-rich whole foods can provide food security AND improve health outcomes. Our mobile farmers markets bring fresh fruits and vegetables directly to food-insecure neighborhoods in Charlotte, offering families access to healthy food in a barrier-free environment. Our farm program supports our markets by providing farm fresh produce grown by our farmers and volunteers.
As a volunteer, you'll be directly involved in providing access to fresh food where it's needed most. Your efforts will help families in underserved neighborhoods receive healthy produce, empowering them to make better food choices and break the cycle of food insecurity. Every shift you volunteer contributes to a healthier, more resilient Charlotte.
🥕What will volunteers do?🥕
At The Bulb's Urban Farm, there’s always something exciting happening as we grow food for our community. Our tasks change with the seasons and the needs of the farm, so you’ll never have the same experience twice.
Common Tasks:
- Seed Starting: Help us get a new crop growing by sowing seeds.
- Planting Starter Plants: Join us in planting them out in the field.
- Harvesting Fresh Produce: Help us pick ripe produce to distribute to our community.
- Irrigation Installation: Keep our crops hydrated by installing and maintaining irrigation.
- Digging Trenches for Irrigation Lines: Bury irrigation lines to keep the water flowing.
- Turning & Preparing Beds: Get the soil ready for the next crop.
Wood Chip & Compost Moves: Help us make space for more growing by hauling wood chips and compost.

Our farm is at Garinger High School by entering at 2586 Elkwood Circle. More in depth location details are available on the POINT listing when signing up.
🍆What will volunteers need to bring or wear?🍆
Wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. We will check the weather and will notify you an hour before your volunteer shift if there will be any cancellations. Bring water to stay hydrated, and sunscreen!
