Raptor Rescuers respond to calls about injured raptors. They are trained to retrieve a bird, secure it safely, and transport it to the Carolina Raptor Center Medical Facility.
Activities
- Professionally respond to calls from the public about injured birds
- Provide necessary information to the public about the rehabilitation process
- Observe injured raptor behavior
- Retrieve injured raptors
- Safely transport raptors to the Carolina Raptor Center Medical facility promptly and by car
- Provide information to CRC staff about the rescue
- Follow all CRC procedures regarding communicable diseases
Commitment Required
- Volunteer shifts happen on an as-needed basis
- Must commit to being "on call" for at least one year
- Must be able to receive text notifications
- Text notifications only occur when an injured bird is within your selected area
- Text notifications happen between the hours of 8am and 5pm, seven days a week
- Reliable transportation required
- Raptor Rescue Team Volunteers provide their own equipment for catching injured birds
