Center 360

Center 360, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering disengaged middle school students through transformative after-school programs, is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Volunteer Board Member with Legal Expertise to join our Board of Directors.

Role Overview

As a member of the Board, you will provide vital legal guidance and expertise to ensure Center 360 operates in compliance with applicable laws and regulations while strengthening our governance framework. Your contributions will help protect the organization, support our mission, and guide our strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to the Board and Executive Director on matters related to contracts, policies, compliance, and nonprofit governance.
• Review organizational policies, procedures, and contracts to ensure alignment with legal requirements and best practices.
• Assist in identifying and mitigating potential legal risks.
• Support board discussions and decisions with a legal perspective to uphold the organization’s interests.
• Serve as an ambassador for Center 360, helping to strengthen community and stakeholder relationships.
• Attend bi-monthly board meetings and actively participate in strategic planning and decision-making.
   

Qualifications

• Licensed attorney with expertise in nonprofit, corporate, or employment law preferred.
• Passion for youth development and Center 360’s mission.
• Familiarity with nonprofit governance, compliance, and risk management.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts in plain language.
• Commitment to contributing approximately 6–10 hours per month to board duties.
