Center 360, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering disengaged middle school students through transformative after-school programs, is seeking a passionate and organized Volunteer Board Secretary to join our Board of Directors.
Role Overview
As the Secretary, you will play a vital role in maintaining the efficiency and transparency of Center 360’s board operations. Working closely with the Board and Executive Director, you will ensure accurate record-keeping, effective communication, and adherence to governance policies to support our mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute agendas, meeting materials, and minutes for board meetings.
- Record and maintain accurate minutes of all board meetings and committee activities.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit governance requirements, including keeping corporate records up to date.
- Serve as a key liaison for board communication, ensuring timely dissemination of information.
- Collaborate with board members and the Executive Director to coordinate board activities and schedules.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and uphold the organization’s integrity, values and policies.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in using tools like email, shared drives, and Google Workspace.
- Familiarity with nonprofit governance is a plus but not required.
- Passion for Center 360’s mission and commitment to youth empowerment.
- Willingness to attend bi-monthly board meetings and dedicate time to secretarial duties (approx. 4-6 hours/month).
