Lake Norman YMCA – Board Member Job Description:

We give parents childcare, young adults job training, seniors a way to connect and children a safe place to go. Deeply rooted in our local communities since 1874, the YMCA of Greater Charlotte engages over 300,000 individuals annually through programs, services and events across our 17 branches and 2 overnight camps, Camp Thunderbird and Camp Harrison.
Our branches and overnight camps are guided by advisory boards, made up of up to 24 community volunteers that dedicate their time, talent, and treasure to our mission and those we serve. We are always looking to connect with interested individuals!
Expectations of advisory board members are below:
- Serve as an advocate of the YMCA in the community
- Commit to up to (2) 3 year terms as an advisory board member
- Attend majority of board meetings
- Participate as an active and highly engaged member of at least one committee or task team
- Make a contribution of $1,000 or more to the YMCA Annual Campaign
- Support Annual Campaign efforts by:
- Identifying and connecting prospective donors
- Asking for donations
- Participating in cultivation and stewardship efforts
- Attend branch/camp events and volunteer projects throughout the year
- Attend special Metro YMCA functions
- Understand the YMCA’s purpose, goals, objectives and programs
- Provide meaningful input on branch happenings and issues
- Identify and recruit new YMCA members and volunteers
- Identify potential board members based on current and future needs
- Be engaged and actively seek to share your talents with the Y
