Volunteer Development Director – Machiah’s House Inc.

Position: Development Director (Volunteer)
Location: Remote / Charlotte, NC (as needed)
Commitment: 10-15 hours per week (flexible)
Reports to: Executive Director

Overview: Machiah’s House Inc. is a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for young women who have aged out of foster care. Our mission is to guide them in their transition to adulthood through life skills training, housing, education, and emotional support. We are seeking a passionate and innovative volunteer Development Director to help further our mission by leading fundraising efforts, building partnerships, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising Strategy: Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with Machiah’s House’s goals and mission, including donor cultivation, corporate partnerships, and community-driven campaigns.
  • Donor Engagement: Cultivate relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporations to secure financial support. Develop creative initiatives to attract new donors and retain existing supporters.
  • Grant Writing: Identify and apply for grants that align with our mission. Work closely with the team to produce compelling grant applications and reports.
  • Event Planning: Plan and execute fundraising events (both virtual and in-person) to raise awareness and funds. Think creatively about events that can engage the community and inspire generosity.
  • Campaign Leadership: Lead key fundraising campaigns, such as the “Building Bridges Transitional Home” campaign, focusing on raising funds to purchase and maintain a transitional group home.
  • Partnership Building: Identify and build partnerships with local businesses, schools, and community organizations that can support Machiah’s House through sponsorship, in-kind donations, or other collaborative efforts.
  • Communication & Branding: Collaborate with the team to develop compelling messaging, social media content, and marketing materials that highlight our mission and engage potential donors and partners.
  • Data & Reporting: Track donations, maintain donor records, and provide regular reports to the Executive Director on the progress of fundraising efforts and goals.
