Brave Step

Mission: Brave Step empowers individuals who have been impacted by sexual violence. To shape a strong, supportive community, we provide personalized services that help adults impacted by sexual violence claim the life they deserve; foster brave public conversations about sexual violence; and cultivate courageous changemakers.

Opportunity: Brave Step is seeking a passionate volunteer with social media savvy to magnify Brave Step’s mission. The social media volunteer will work collaboratively with the team to develop and execute a new social media strategy with an emphasis on content and engagement on our social channels. 

Responsibilities

• Utilize creativity and a sharp communications perspective to communicate on a sensitive issue that moves people to action.
• Grow Brave Step’s social footprint, increase engagement across platforms, and monitor social metrics. 
• Manage the nonprofit’s social media presence, creatively craft and post content and respond to inquiries. 
• Collaborate with Brave Step’s team to communicate key initiatives, special events, etc. 

Required Qualifications & Competencies

• In the process of obtaining a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in communications, English, journalism, marketing or public relations from an accredited college or university; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 
• Organized and has a keen ability at social listening and message development. 
• Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills and attention to detail when reviewing and editing written materials.
• Strong digital/social media skills required working with various social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.
• Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
