Trips For Kids Charlotte diverts around 4000 unwanted, discarded or donated bikes from the landfill and transforms them into opportunities for education and access to refurbished bikes for our programs and the community.
Join us every Tuesday night from 5-8pm for the Charlotte Re-Cyclery Volunteer Night to help us process some of the donations that are no longer fit for use on the road or the trail.
During Volunteer Night:
1.) volunteers will breakdown bikes into reuseable parts and recyclable metals
2.) organized processed parts and donated parts
3.) patch tubes for reuse
4.) sort parts bins
5.) Learn about the space (tour/intro of Re-Cyclery @ 5pm)
Bonus) As you build your skills and familiarity with Volunteer Night: Build up/Refurbish bikes for the community, introduce new volunteers to the volunteer night and repair fleet bikes for the Ride Program (Bicycle Assembly and Repair Class (BAR Class) completion required.)
Our BAR Class is a introduction to the space, the tools for bicycle mechanics, the systems of the bicycle and our refurbishing process. The Class is 6 hours over two days and is held monthly at the Charlotte Re-Cyclery. See the Trips For Kids Charlotte Eventbrite for details on the next class.
