VoteRiders provides free transportation for voters to get to and from their DMV and SSA appointments, currently using Lyft and Uber’s ride platforms. Ride managers will each be responsible for the rides on a specific day of the week, including making confirmation/reminder calls a few days in advance and ordering the rides on-line on the day of the appointment, typically in the morning. The number of voters needing rides on a particular day varies each week, generally from a low of 2 to a high of 6, so although the Ride Manager will be responsible for the rides on their chosen day, they will not be working all day, just a short time with each voter. Transportation is a barrier for many people so doing this important work is part of the solution!
Most ride managers volunteer one day/morning a week. VoteRiders provides a credit card to pay for the ride costs and training on the various business ride platforms, like Lyft Concierge and Uber for Business.
