Myers & Chapman Supports DO GOOD Week

Volunteers help build our community through the work they do for Charlotte’s nonprofit organizations.

Myers & Chapman, a 65-year-old, Charlotte-based, full-service construction company may literally build our community through its business, but it’s the company’s culture toward volunteering that sets it apart.

As a locally owned business, Myers & Chapman has a vested interest in the health and well-being of our community and has partnered with SHARE Charlotte as an official sponsor of DO GOOD Week.

“It’s just good business to continue giving back to a community that has been so good to us for more than six decades,” said Myers & Chapman CEO Marcus Rabun. “Partnering on an effort like DO GOOD Week gives our company and employees a renewed excitement for volunteering.”

To encourage employees to volunteer more and create time for them to do so, Myers & Chapman recently announced four hours per month of Volunteer Time Off (VTO) for all full-time employees.

“It’s important for us to give back as a company and as individuals,” Rabun said. “Sponsoring DO GOOD Week is right for the company and as part of that, SHARE Charlotte is helping connect our employees with new opportunities to give back in a way that’s personally meaningful to them.”

In an effort to encourage Myers & Chapman’s already engaged employees to sign up for a volunteer opportunity during DO GOOD Week, SHARE Charlotte visited their office on April 19 to walk through how to sign up on the website and find opportunities meaningful to each employee. Many who attended the presentation signed up on the spot, while others made plans to volunteer at DO GOOD Week‘s VolunBEERing event on April 21.

On Friday, April 20, Myers & Chapman’s Marcus Rabun and Derek Carpenter will lend their time and talents to Realtors Care Day serving as site supervisors. An initiative of the Housing Opportunity Foundation, the charitable arm of the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association, this all day home repair project, now in its 10th year, is designed to help deserving homeowners with critical, but often unaffordable, exterior home repairs.700 volunteers will be out in force from Mint Hill to Mooresville helping homeowners and nonprofits with everything from painting entire houses and weatherproofing to replacing rotted wood and building handicapped ramps.

Though many individuals at the company have always volunteered, going forward, Myers & Chapman is going to start measuring collective community involvement so they can share those numbers of organizations and hours served with employees to demonstrate what a huge community impact they make together.

Our community is reliant on volunteers. Companies like Myers & Chapman that support and make it easy for employees to give back are what will help to build a better Charlotte.
