Anderson Outreach
What We Do
We serve forgotten children & youth who reside in treatment facilities and group homes, in North & South Carolina. They live in these facilities as a result of their parents losing or giving up parental rights. We also serve equity-impacted youth in nearby rural cities.
These youth face the challenges of not living with family, mental health diagnosis and developmental delays. Many have even been adopted along with siblings, only to be the only one returned to the system, due to diagnosis and behaviors. We'd love any collaboration or support you are able to provide.
How we serve them:
- Celebrate every birthday and major holiday by giving gifts, parties and showing up with goodies
- Provide essential skills classes (Cooking, Making healthy choices & Financial Literacy)
- Provide new luggage with therapeutic tools as they transition and level up or down in various homes and facilities
- Exposure to the performing arts and so many amazing events going on in and around our city
- Broaden our focus (during the summer) to mitigate food insecurities in CLT as many youths rely on school meals during the year. We worry they may be missing meals so we offer free community cook outs in the city.
Interesting Info
- Over 200 youth served in our first 6 months
- Over 160 backpacks provided during our back to school initiatives
- Over 300 meals served during the summer of 2024
