Our mission is to enable individuals and families to obtain and sustain safe, decent and affordable housing. We help people across the housing spectrum- from people who are enduring housing insecurity to people who are interested in becoming first-time homeowners.
We serve our customers through two main programs: Homeless to Housing and Asset Building.
In our Homeless to Housing program, we help homeless individuals and families secure affordable places to live. Our front-line staff help customers address the issues that led to homelessness. We also offer a Travelers Aid program to assist people who need to reach a supportive community elsewhere in the country.
In our Asset Building program, low-to-moderate income households can avoid foreclosure, grow savings, or buy a first home. Our financial empowerment workshops include budgeting, saving, and understanding credit to improve participants' financial independence. We also offer a free tax preparation service, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), for low-income individuals every year.
Many Community Link customers are single mothers with children. We do a great deal of work with survivors of domestic violence to find these families safe housing in our community or elsewhere.
