The mission of Community Link is to enable individuals and families to obtain and sustain safe, decent and affordable housing. Community Link has been serving Charlotte/Mecklenburg since 1929.
We have been a black-led and majority black-serving organization since the early 2000s. Our main programs are Asset Building and Travelers Aid. We offer services in 21 counties across the state, but predominately serve the Mecklenburg/Charlotte area.
Asset Building programming includes free foreclosure prevention counseling, free tax preparation services for low-to-moderate income households, and a first-time homebuyer program with personalized counseling, opportunities for down payment assistance, and monthly financial empowerment workshops.
Travelers Aid provides free transportation vouchers to stranded individuals in distress. Often, we are serving people fleeing domestic violence who have a safe haven elsewhere in the country. We work with each customer to confirm their destination, prepare them for the trip, and to follow up after they arrive to ensure their safety.
