Our Mission is to provide girls and young women with writing tools and a platform to create, revise, and share their narratives.
Our Vision is to increase the number of female authors of color to reclaim and publish their stories.
We use art-based programming, mental health support, and leadership tools to help girls and young women of color express themselves freely and creatively. Participants will be equipped with tools to develop stories from across all genres (fiction or nonfiction, comics or graphic novels, screenplays or poetry, novels or novellas) and resources to publish their completed work. We are currently focusing our efforts on 3 projects: H.E.R. Society which serves young women on college campuses with workshops and an annual showcase; Blerd Chronicles which serves girls and women of color in two age groups (14-19) and (20-25), helping them tell stories with digital art and creating their own webcomics and graphic novels; W.O.W (Women of Words) Residency and Retreat which serves women aged 24+ with a writing intensive residency and international retreat.
