Amplifying Youth Service Across the Community
Amplifying Youth Service Across the Community
SHARE Charlotte, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and GenerationNation are partnering to increase and improve youth service across the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area. This project is supported in part by Youth Service America, whose national goal is 50% youth participation by America’s 250th birthday in 2026.
Project initiatives include:
-
Engaging youth, nonprofits, schools, and community leaders on youth service
-
Raising youth awareness and engagement in existing service opportunities across the community including activities supporting volunteerism, leadership, and philanthropy
-
Connecting youth and community leaders for dialogues and civic problem-solving
-
Supporting students who create their own service projects and connecting them to local organizations and service opportunities on national days of service (September 11, MLK Day, and Global Youth Service Day) and through the year
-
Using data to better understand and tell the story of youth service in Charlotte
