"BIG OF THE YEAR" MAKES A DIFFERENCE
GUEST POST: Need some inspiration? Our friends at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte shared this post with us about their "Big of the Year" Keith Anderson. If you're interested in making a difference like Keith has, BBBSGC is always looking for more volunteers. It only takes a few hours a week to make a difference in the life of a child!

We would love to tell SHARE Charlotte's Neighbors about our 2013 Big of the Year, Keith Anderson. Keith was named as Big of the Year because of his dedication to his Little Brother, Marquis, a sixth grader at Bruns Academy. They have been matched since 2008. Despite a busy schedule as a physician, Keith has made a commitment to see Marquis every week. Their mutual love of sports gives them many activities to enjoy together. They even invented their own game similar to baseball but using tennis rackets and balls.
Big of the Year is the biggest honor we bestow on a volunteer. Keith consistently goes above and beyond, making time for Marquis.
Since being matched with Keith, Marquis has become a stronger student. He was named "Most Improved" at his school last year. His mother is very grateful for Keith's dedication.
A 2006 graduate from the University of Oklahoma Medical School, Keith serves as a team physician for the USA Canoe and Kayak team, Queens University, and Myers Park High School. The Charlotte Business Journal named him 40 Under 40 in 2012. The arrival of his own daughter has not dampened his enthusiasm for spending time with Marquis.
