Charlotte's Largest Giving Campaign Kicks Off for #GivingTuesdayCLT
Three-week campaign to raise $2M for 108 local nonprofits kicks off at Heist Brewery
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Nov. 10, 2015) – SHARE Charlotte, a one-stop shop connecting the community with local nonprofits, is kicking off its second-annual #GivingTuesdayCLT campaign today, presented by Google Fiber, to raise a record $2 million to fund 108 participating local nonprofits in the greater Charlotte area. Leading up to Dec. 1, the day of the global #GivingTuesday movement, the Charlotte community will have three weeks to give back to a diverse list of local nonprofits, some with missions focusing on Charlotte’s most critical needs.
In its second year running, #GivingTuesdayCLT has grown significantly in several key areas including participating nonprofits, program offerings and sponsorships. As of today, along with Google Fiber, the campaign has 34 partners including Duke Energy Foundation, Bank of America and OrthoCarolina. In addition to these partners, $50,000 has been pledged in matching funds from Bank of America, Foundation for the Carolinas, Google Fiber, Knight Foundation and Reemprise Fund. *Note to Media: A full list of sponsors is included at the bottom of the list.

To build upon the excitement in the community, several events will take place over the campaign period:
Kick Off Event
To officially launch the campaign today, Heist Brewery will host #GivingTuesdayCLT’s kickoff from 5 – 9 p.m., which will be open to the general public. Broadening their support of the campaign, Heist will serve a special brew, “My Gift”, as well as sell crowlers with custom #GivingTuesdayCLT labels. A percentage of sales from these items will be donated to the campaign. A second event at the local brewery will be held at the conclusion of the campaign on Dec. 1.
Charlotte Checkers Game
SHARE Charlotte has partnered with the Charlotte Checkers during their Nov. 25 game against the San Jose Barracuda at 7:00 p.m. For every $16 ticket sold, $5 will go to #GivingTuesdayCLT’s General Donation Fund, a new donation option that is distributed evenly to all participating nonprofits of this year’s campaign. Fans can purchase tickets on GoCheckers.com/GivingTuesdayCLT and enter the promo code: sharecharlotte (one word). #GivingTuesdayCLT has a goal to sell at least 200 tickets to participate in the Checker’s “Chuck-a-Puck” promotion.
