DO GOOD Week 2019 Is Here (Official Press Release)

SHARE Charlotte Celebrates National Volunteer Week with DO GOOD Week

This local celebration is powered by Duke Energy

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 5, 2019

(CHARLOTTE, N.C.)SHARE Charlotte’s third annual DO GOOD Week (April 5-13), powered by Duke Energy, kicks off today in the Queen City. Together, SHARE Charlotte and hundreds of local nonprofits will rally the Charlotte community to come together to volunteer their time and talent by finding and choosing volunteer opportunities that are right for them. Volunteers do not need to serve during DO GOOD Week, but will be encouraged to choose an opportunity and sign up!

The Charlotte community can get involved during DO GOOD Week by:

  • Going to dogoodweekclt.org and learning about hundreds of local volunteer opportunities

  • Choosing one (or more) of those volunteer opportunities that is right for them and signing up

  • Liking and sharing DO GOOD Week social media posts, introducing friends and family to new ways to give back in Charlotte (Instagram & Facebook: @sharecharlotte | Twitter: @shareclt)

  • Attending a DO GOOD Week event where the Charlotte community will have the opportunity to help nonprofits on-site by completing hands-on volunteer projects:

  • Check out the #Time4Good Volunteer Fair at Wells Fargo Atrium on Wed. 4/10 from 11am - 1pm, co-hosted by Wells Fargo and DO GOOD Week presenting partner Duke Energy.

SHARE Charlotte is grateful to presenting partner Duke Energy and official partners Barings, YMCA of Greater Charlotte and Thompson for their support in bringing the spirit of volunteerism to life this DO GOOD Week.

“There is no better time to do good in our community than right now,” said Sarah Degnan, corporate volunteerism manager for Duke Energy. “When we all join together, we can multiply our impact for those most in need in our community.”

“This week is all call to action for our Charlotte neighbors to sign up to give their time and talent to a local nonprofit who needs them!” says Amy Jacobs, Executive Director of SHARE Charlotte. “There are hundreds of hands-on as well as skill-based opportunities to choose from at dogoodweekclt.org, and volunteers don’t need to serve their time this week - they can sign up for a future opportunity as well.”
