DO GOOD Week: Home Edition - Official Press Release

SHARE Charlotte Pivots 4th Annual DO GOOD Week to Encourage Community to Give From Home
DO GOOD Week: Home Edition kicks off Sunday, April 19

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 19, 2020

(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) – SHARE Charlotte’s fourth annual DO GOOD Week (April 19-25), powered by Duke Energy, kicks off today and this year will encourage the Charlotte community to do good from home by offering hundreds of ways that people can give their time in support local nonprofits virtually at DoGoodWeekCLT.org.

Due to current events, SHARE Charlotte is leveraging this annual celebration to raise the level of awareness of Mecklenburg County nonprofits’ needs amid the COVID-19 crisis and inspire the Charlotte community to come together virtually to serve with their time and talent.

How To Participate

  1. Visit DoGoodWeekCLT.org Sunday, April 19 - Saturday April 25th to find hundreds of ways to do good for local nonprofits, from home. You do not have to complete your volunteer activity next week - the call to action is to find one and sign up.

  2. Follow SHARE Charlotte on social media and like and share content, helping to amplify  the needs of 400+ Mecklenburg County nonprofits and encourage others to take action (Facebook & Instagram: @sharecharlotte; Twitter: @shareclt)

  3. Leverage DO GOOD Week as an opportunity to engage your Mecklenburg County employees, customers, clients, patients, students, members, fans, viewers, residents, followers and/or others in your personal and professional networks.  Learn how here

SHARE Charlotte is grateful for presenting partner Duke Energy, and official partners Novant Health, Wells Fargo, Allstate and the YMCA of Greater Charlotte for making this year’s DO GOOD Week: Home Edition possible.

“We know the needs are great for so many right now, and there is no better time to do good in our local communities than right now,” said Shawn Heath, president, Duke Energy Foundation. “Volunteerism looks different during these unprecedented times and virtual volunteerism can allow an individual or family to continue to support our local community while staying home.”

“Our goal through this crisis has been to do what we do best — connect those who want to help Mecklenburg County's nonprofit community with all the ways they can do so,” says Amy Jacobs, Executive Director of SHARE Charlotte. “DO GOOD Week is always celebrated in April, and so to honor that celebration our team has been working closely with our nonprofit partners to pivot and feature ways our community can do good with their time from wherever they are sheltering in place.  Coming together this week to do good from home not only helps our nonprofits continue to serve our most vulnerable neighbors, but it also reminds us our community is stronger when we work together, especially for GOOD!”
