Environmental Sustainability Community Event
SHARE Charlotte Environmental Sustainability Community Event
SHARE Charlotte is helping to build a better Charlotte by EMPOWERING NONPROFITS AND HELPING PEOPLE invest in their communities in ways that matter most to them.
One of the main ways we do this through bringing together community members and nonprofits together to meet and connect through our Community Events. This year due to the support of Wells Fargo and Albemarle, we were able to create our first-ever community event focused on Environmental Sustainability.
Environmental sustainability can sound like a complex global problem, and it is - but there are innovative local nonprofits working to make Charlotte a leading-edge city in environmental sustainability.
During our event, attendees had the opportunity to meet and network with nonprofits who are working to create a zero-waste, low-carbon future and ensuring that our surrounding rivers, land, and wildlife are being protected. Plus, they learned about ways all Charlotteans can go green, support these nonprofits and create a more sustainable future. ♻️
The event included a panel discussion with nonprofit leaders from our communities largest Environmental nonprofits:
- Panel moderator, John Searby Executive Director of Catawba Riverkeeper and Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens
- Panel Speakers included:
- Meg Fencil - Director of Engagement and Impact of Sustain Charlotte
- Jane Myers - Executive Director of TreesCharlotte
- Jeffrey Robbins - Executive Director of CleanAIRE NC
- Bart Landess - Executive Director of Catawba Lands Conservancy & Carolina Thread Trail
At the conclusion of the panel discussion, the audience was given these simple actions they could take to support nonprofits:
- If you only have a few minutes, follow these organizations on social media
- If you have a few hours, find opportunities to volunteer such as helping them to plant trees or clean our river and streams
