A Few GOOD Questions with AvidXchange
We are so excited to have our friends from AvidXchange on board as an Official Partner of this year's #GivingTuesdayCLT! Learn more about the ways that AvidXchange does GOOD for CLT year round through their foundation and how they support the lives of youth in CLT in this quick Q&A with Michael Praeger, CEO and Co-founder of AvidXchange:
Why did AvidXchange decide to sponsor #GivingTuesdayCLT this year?
Sponsoring #GivingTuesdayCLT and working with SHARE Charlotte is a great way support all the nonprofits in our community. What’s more is that GivingTuesday is a global movement so all of our locations can participate as a company-wide initiative.
Why does AvidXchange think community-wide campaigns like #GivingTuesdayCLT are important to Charlotte?
There is so much need in Charlotte and many different organizations working to address those needs. At the same time, Charlotteans are so busy going about their daily lives they often don’t know the best way to make a positive impact on their community. #GivingTuesdayCLT is an excellent way to join other leaders to engage our residents in a fun, creative way to improve quality of life while also impacting a movement that stretches far beyond our city limits.
Who are some of the local nonprofits that AvidXchange has a relationship with or has supported in the past?
We have supported many local organizations including EmpowHERment, Inc., Classroom Central, E2D, InTech Scholars, Junior Achievement, The Children’s Theatre Charlotte, and the Charlotte Housing Authority Scholarship Fund.
When giving back, does AvidXchange focus on a particular cause or support a specific nonprofit sector?
The AvidXchange Foundation is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of youth where we work and live. We enable employees who are passionate about helping others give back to the community. When bringing our mission to life, we focus on projects and programs in STREAM (science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, math) and life skills.
In what ways does AvidXchange encourage employees to get involved?
There are many opportunities for teammates to get involved through the year whether provided by the AvidXchange Foundation or other causes individuals wish to support. Our teammates also receive a certain amount of paid time off for volunteering and are encouraged to use it with the organization of their choice. Not only does this empower teammates to get involved in the community, but it also fosters our ability to continue to be a great place to work.
What is one thing you would like Charlotte to know about AvidXchange that they may not already know?
Founded in 2005 in response to helping elementary school children that were impacted by Hurricane Katrina, the AvidXchange Foundation has been giving back to its communities for years, but starting in 2020, we are excited to launch a more strategic approach to serving the youth in the communities in which we work and live. We are excited to really dive deep and hone in on the areas of STREAM and life skills by elevating our relationships with youth-focused organizations across all seven of the communities where we’re located.
