Hendrick Automotive Group Cares About Local GOOD

Hendrick Automotive Group is not new to local, social GOOD. In fact, did you know that this generous company has a dedicated corporate social responsibility program called Hendrick Cares? Read more about Hendrick Cares and Hendrick Automotive Group's commitment to stengthening and supporting our local nonprofit community below in this quick Q & A with Hendrick's Senior Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, Chrissy Eubanks.
  1. Why did Hendrick Automotive Group decide to partner with SHARE Charlotte for #GivingTuesdayCLT again this year?

Hendrick Automotive Group strives to be a true community partner, and also a leader. Opportunities like #GivingTuesdayCLT allow us to support the entire community at once, and amplify the work of all the countless nonprofits in the area. We hope that the Hendrick Family Foundation donation will encourage other companies to get involved and help spread the message even further.

  1.  Why does Hendrick think community-wide campaigns like #GivingTuesdayCLT are important to Charlotte?

Community-wide campaigns are important because they bring people together and help foster collaboration, which makes the city stronger in every way. We know that when people come together as a team to work towards the same goal, they can achieve more than they could by themselves. This is a major belief for our company and really sums up the spirit of SHARE Charlotte.

  1. Hendrick Automotive Group has a new corporate program focused on uniting and engaging teammates to make a difference. Tell us more about this program.

Hendrick Cares is the corporate social responsibility program at Hendrick Automotive Group assuring the company’s legacy of caring for others and commitment to teamwork are put into action to benefit employees, customers and communities. The newly formalized program places a spotlight on the values that chairman Rick Hendrick instilled in the company’s culture more than 40 years ago. From local events to ongoing corporate programs, our teams live out that Hendrick Cares every day.

  1. When giving back, does Hendrick Cares focus on a particular cause or support a specific nonprofit sector?  (ex. children, animals, environment, upward mobility, education, etc.)

In the spirit of each team member living out that Hendrick Cares, each of our dealerships and offices are empowered to choose their own charitable community projects to get involved with, along with caring for their teammates and customers. Some of their favorite organizations offer support for children, healthcare, veterans, public servants and animal welfare. A large number of our teammates, especially in Charlotte, are dedicated partners of local schools. Our locations host educational trips to the dealership, offer mentorship opportunities, volunteer in the schools and offer as much support to teachers as possible.

In addition to unique initiatives championed by each of our locations, Hendrick Automotive Group organizes company-wide, employee-led meal drives every year. These drives help our teammates unite, engage and provide more than 80,000 holidays meals a year to help bring families together. These programs have provided more than 4 million pounds of food for our neighbors in need.

  1. What is one thing you would like Charlotte to know about Hendrick that they may not already know?  (ex: number of total hours employees have served, special projects you have completed, your focus for 2019, etc).

We want to be known as a company that cares for our people, many of whom call Charlotte home. In Rick Hendrick's words “People are our most important asset. Our focus on teammates and customers is what makes our company such a special place to work. It’s our civic duty to also take care of the people in our communities, and a moral duty just for mankind.”
