The John Crosland School: #SpotlightOnCLT Autism Awareness
Today's highlight for #SpotlightOnCLT Autism Awareness is all about the The John Crosland School. We spoke with Head of School, Hallie Rojeski, about how this school makes such a big impact here in Charlotte.
What would you like for the community to know about the challenges your organization is trying to solve?
Our students are underserved in the community due to their complex disabilities. Many families never consider private school due to tuition, but with NC grants, all families have options.
What is your organization's role in the community?
When you join us at Crosland, your child with learning differences experiences belonging to build confidence and grows academically and socially, so each child can have more opportunities.
We love impact stories, could you share some?
"I just wanted to thank you for welcoming my son to John Crosland with such warmth and open arms."
Jackson has been “giddy” about school and I have never been able to use that word before. He loves Ms. Michaels and she makes him feel confident about his school work and he has not complained one time (which is NOT the norm). Jackson told me that a boy asked him to be his friend and he was beaming about it. It is so refreshing to see our child happy at school. We really appreciate all you do and look forward to a great school year!"
About the image pictured above: Social Emotional Learning is a focus that our students on the spectrum and ADHD truly benefit from. Taking time to develop these skills and relationships is key to making and keeping friends.
