SHARE Charlotte Announces 2015 #GivingTuesdayCLT Campaign Goal

of $2 Million for 108 Area Nonprofits

Local affiliate also announces record growth of number of participating nonprofit partners; several new giving options also planned

Charlotte, N.C. (Oct. 15, 2015) – SHARE Charlotte, a one-stop shop that connects community members with local nonprofits to raise awareness and encouraging to give at all levels, announced today its 2015 #GivingTuesdayCLT campaign goal to raise a record $2M by Dec. 1 for area nonprofits. Since its Charlotte inception last year, the #GivingTuesdayCLT campaign more than tripled its fundraising goal from its $600,000 raised in 2014.

“This is our opportunity as a community to not just give back, but to come together for the greater good of Charlotte,” said Kelly Brooks, SHARE Charlotte Founder. “This campaign doesn’t just end after one day; it creates an outpouring of awareness, inspiration and hope that continues year after year. We know that $2M will go a long way for our nonprofits, and we’re thrilled with the community backing we’ve received thus far in support of this goal.”

New this year to the #GivingTuesdayCLT campaign will be two additional giving options. The Give Shop is an online store through SHARE Charlotte’s website where purchases can be made for specific goods for nonprofits. A General Fund will also be established for donors who wish to give to all participating nonprofits. At the completion of the campaign, the General Fund will be tallied and split evenly among all participating nonprofits.

As part of the global #GivingTuesday movement, a day where people all over the world are encouraged to give back, the Charlotte community will also be charged with an opportunity to donate time, funds and goods to area nonprofits of their choice from Nov. 10 – Dec. 1. This year, the nonprofit partners almost doubled from 64 to 108, further diversifying the growing need of goods and services among the greater Charlotte community. New to the program are Arts & Science Council, Humane Society of Charlotte and Ronald McDonald House. Returning as a nonprofit partner is Changed Choices, a small nonprofit focused on serving women holistically from incarceration through transition, who saw a tremendous impact from participating as a nonprofit partner last year.

“We were able to connect the #GivingTuesdayCLT campaign with longer-term fundraising efforts to pay off our transitional home,” said Karen Kovach, Executive Director at Changed Choices. “As a small nonprofit, SHARE Charlotte gave us the tools to put more energy into marketing creatively, so our fundraising could be even more successful in supporting our mission. It was truly a collaboration using a little bit of SHARE Charlotte, and a little bit of us to go a lot further in our efforts.”

SHARE Charlotte will kick off its campaign with an event the second week of November. More details pertaining to this event will be announced in the coming weeks.
