Preparing for the big day!
What is #GivingTuesdayCLT?
#GivingTuesdayCLT is the local response to the global day of giving, Giving Tuesday which last year inspired $3.1B on a single day in the U.S. This day locally is powered by SHARE Charlotte and presented by Lowe’s, last year inspired $5.7M in giving to our local nonprofits.
Giving Tuesday (11/28) is always held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving as a way to give back after eating and shopping. A day to inspire generosity in all forms whether it is a monetary donation, volunteering, donating goods or a simple act of kindness.
This year is our 10th year in celebrating #GivingTuesdayCLT which over the past 9 years has inspired $40M in giving back to local nonprofits on a single Tuesday!
What is #GivingTuesdayCLT InfoSHARE?
Each year, SHARE Charlotte hosts a #GivingTuesdayCLT InfoSHARE for our nonprofit leaders about 6 weeks prior to the big day to provide them with the resources to create their promotions to inspire generosity on this historical day of giving.
This year we were able to hold our InfoSHARE at the Lowe’s Tech Center in the heart of South End and hosted 100+ nonprofit leaders to come together to network, learn and get excited for the big day.
First we heard from a panel of nonprofit leaders and their tips from their successful promotions last year to rally generosity to their organizations either in donations, items from their Amazon wish lists, volunteers, social media followers and new donors.
- Do Greater Charlotte, William McNeely
- Tool Bank, Maureen Krueger
- Charlotte Art League, Jim Dukes
- Families Forward Charlotte, Carrie Christian
- Three Bone Theater, Robin Tynes-Miller
Then we heard from Jason Harper with Queen City News on how to tell your impactful story!
The theme of this year’s campaign is to Give Good and we are excited to celebrate generosity in all forms and the impact of our nonprofit partners on 11/28!
