Spotlight on our Sponsor: U.S. Bank

#YPMixerCLT 2022 Presented by U.S. Bank

Back in person this year after a two-year hiatus, the 9th Annual #YPMixerCLT provides an annual opportunity for hundreds of Young Professionals to network and meet local nonprofits and Charlotte's most influential Young Professional Boards.

We are so excited to partner with U.S. Bank to host this event and to hear directly from them on why this partnership and giving back to the community is so important to their organization.

Whether it’s serving on a nonprofit’s board or helping with a Rail Trail cleanup, U.S. Bank employees believe it’s part of their job to make their city a better place to live, work and play. That’s why on May 18 U.S. Bank is so proud to sponsor the SHARE Charlotte #YPMixerCLT for a third consecutive year, helping to support the city’s next generation of philanthropists.

“U.S. Bank and SHARE Charlotte are both dedicated to powering human potential,” said Ashley Cumberbatch, Charlotte District Manager with U.S. Bank. “As a young professional myself, I am excited about the future generation of leaders here in Charlotte who are working to make our city an even better place for all of its citizens.”

Since arriving in Charlotte more than 15 years ago, U.S. Bank has been building a deep presence in the city. The bank has around 1,000 employees working here in a variety of business lines, from corporate and commercial banking to wealth management to compliance. It’s also expanding in consumer and business banking, adding new branches featuring the latest in digital innovations in uptown, Pineville, Blakeney and more locations to come.

In Charlotte, like in all the cities where it operates, U.S. Bank is committed to supporting local organizations making a difference in the community. In 2021, the U.S. Bank Foundation contributed $350,000 to local non-profits, many of which are working to address social and economic inequities. Its employees also donated hundreds of volunteer hours to the charitable causes that mean the most to them.

U.S. Bank is dedicated to community outreach through its Community Possible giving and engagement platform focused on the areas of Work, Home and Play. In Charlotte, this program has made its mark in a variety of ways.

In recent months, U.S. Bank has made multi-year commitments to Common Wealth Charlotte ($60,000) and Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas ($75,000). Other grants supporting the Charlotte community include awards to the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African- American Arts + Culture, She Built This City, Urban League of Central Carolinas, Dress for Success and the Women’s Business Center of Charlotte.

The global pandemic and the George Floyd tragedy that prompted protests for social justice have presented new challenges for our country, and U.S. Bank has responded with its own initiatives to support our communities during these challenging times.

In 2021, the bank launched U.S. Bank Access Commitment™, a long-term approach to help build wealth while redefining how we serve racially diverse communities and provide more opportunities for diverse employees. U.S. Bank started with the Black community because that is where the persistent racial wealth gap in the United States is the largest (the typical white family has eight times the wealth of the typical Black family, according to a 2019 Federal Reserve survey).

While the bank has supported families, businesses and community institutions, U.S. Bank acknowledges it still has more to do. “This work is long-term,” said Andy Cecere, chairman, president and CEO at U.S. Bank. “We’re committed to being part of the solution, and we believe that access to financial education, career development and capital creates opportunities for systemic change.”

At U.S. Bank, employees live out their purpose to power human potential every day. In 2022, the bank is excited to continue an amazing partnership with SHARE Charlotte, as it works to develop the next generation of philanthropic leaders who will power the city’s potential for years to come.

Thank you, U.S. Bank, for your continued partnership and commitment to supporting our local nonprofit community!
